From exhibition booth to workshop — here's how Solarlink Energy showed up at Malaysia's most important clean energy road show, and what it means for anyone considering solar today.

On 16 June 2026, Solarlink Energy was proud to be part of one of the most significant clean energy gatherings in Johor's recent history — MPSEA's R.A.C.E to Zero Johor Edition, held at the Renaissance Hotel Johor Bahru. For us, this wasn't just an event to attend. It was an event to participate in — actively, visibly, and meaningfully.
We came with an exhibition booth and a workshop. We left with deeper industry connections, some of the most engaged conversations we've had about the realities of solar in Malaysia, and a reminder of why showing up — in person, in rooms that matter — is part of what it means to be a serious player in this industry.
Here's a full account of what R.A.C.E to Zero Johor was about, what Solarlink Energy contributed, and why it matters to you as a business owner, developer, or homeowner considering solar today.

What Is R.A.C.E to Zero — and Why Does It Matter?
About MPSEA: The Malaysian Photovoltaic & Sustainable Energy Industry Association (MPSEA) is Malaysia's peak industry body for the solar, storage, and sustainable energy sectors. Founded in 2006 and now celebrating its 20th anniversary, MPSEA works with government, regulators, and industry to accelerate Malaysia's clean energy transition. R.A.C.E to Zero 2026 marks the association's landmark 20th anniversary series.
R.A.C.E to Zero — which stands for Renewable and Clean Energy to Net Zero — is MPSEA's flagship national road show series for 2026. Supported by Malaysia's Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), the series travels across Malaysia's major economic regions throughout the year.
The Johor Edition on 16 June was one of the most eagerly anticipated stops on the calendar. The 2026 series continues across Malaysia with editions in Johor, Penang, Kuching Sarawak, Kota Kinabalu Sabah, and culminating at CETA at MITEC in November. Johor — as one of Malaysia's most active industrial and development corridors — was a natural fit for one of the series' key regional editions.

The series brings the message of clean energy, sustainability, and green industrial growth to every major economic region of Malaysia — highlighting the best of the industry, showcasing new technologies, and connecting the ecosystem. For solar businesses and stakeholders in Johor, this edition brought that national conversation right to our doorstep.

What Was on the Agenda: Policy, Reality, and the Road Ahead
R.A.C.E to Zero Johor Edition was not a sales event. It was a substantive, industry-facing seminar where speakers tackled the topics that actually shape how solar and clean energy projects get planned, approved, financed, and built in Malaysia today.
Across the day's sessions, speakers and panels covered the full spectrum of what's driving — and sometimes slowing — clean energy adoption in Malaysia, including:
Solar & RE Policy in Malaysia
Regulatory Frameworks
RP4 Tariff Structures
Industry Trends & Outlook
Clean Energy Financing
The Reality of Solar Today
Grid & Infrastructure
Net Zero Pathways
Speakers at the R.A.C.E to Zero series include senior representatives from PETRA, SEDA Malaysia, TNB, the Energy Commission (Surunhanjaya Tenaga), and major regional industry bodies — giving attendees direct access to the voices that shape national energy policy and market direction. For business owners and developers in Johor, this kind of access and clarity is rare — and invaluable.

WHY THIS CONVERSATION MATTERS RIGHT NOW Malaysia's clean energy landscape is shifting faster than at any point in the past decade. New tariff structures, evolving grid connection requirements, rising electricity costs, and the introduction of new incentive programmes like SuRIA Home are all changing the economics of solar in real time. Events like R.A.C.E to Zero are where the industry gets ahead of these changes — not behind them. |
How Solarlink Energy Showed Up: Booth and Stage
Participation for us meant more than putting our logo on an attendee badge. At R.A.C.E to Zero Johor, Solarlink Energy was present in two concrete ways — on the exhibition floor and on the speaking stage.
EXHIBITION FLOOR The Solarlink Energy Booth Our exhibition booth gave visitors a chance to meet our team face to face, ask questions about solar installations, and explore how Solarlink Energy can support their projects — from site assessment all the way to commissioning. | SPEAKING STAGE Solarlink Energy on the Seminar Stage Our CEO took to the stage to deliver a practical, real-world session that cut through the technical jargon and gave attendees a clear, step-by-step picture of what happens after a solar project gets approved. |
Our Workshop: Cutting Through the Confusion
There is no shortage of conversations about solar policy, incentives, and technology trends at events like this. What is far rarer — and what our team brought to the stage — is a ground-level, practical answer to the question most people in the room were quietly asking:
“I’ve decided to go solar. The project is approved. But what actually happens next?”

“Your Solar Project is Approved. Now What? A Step-by-Step Guide to Getting It Built, Connected, and Paid For.”
Victor's session was designed to demystify the post-approval journey for anyone — homeowner, business owner, or developer — who has committed to going solar but finds the path from approval to a working system unclear and overwhelming. Drawing on Solarlink Energy's hands-on EPCC experience across residential, commercial, and industrial projects, he walked the audience through the full lifecycle of a solar project after approval.
What Victor's Session Covered
For many attendees — particularly business owners and homeowners who are new to solar — the approval stage feels like the finish line. In reality, it is the starting gun. Victor's session walked through the key stages that follow:
1 | Site Visit An on-site assessment to evaluate roof condition, electrical infrastructure, and overall system feasibility — establishing the real-world foundation every project decision is built on. |
2 | Design Proposal & Financial Analysis A customised system design with projected energy yield, cost savings, and return on investment — tailored to your actual consumption profile and site conditions, not a generic estimate. |
3 | ATAP / SELCO Application Preparation and submission of all required documentation for regulatory approval. Victor noted this stage takes an average of 4–8 weeks (depending on system size) — one of the most common sources of delays for projects that aren’t managed proactively from the start. |
4 | Procurement of Materials Sourcing and scheduling of approved solar components to meet project specifications — including inverters, panels, racking systems, DC & AC cables, tray trunking, cranes, and skylifts. Getting this right the first time matters more than ever as global component prices remain volatile. |
5 | Installation Professional installation carried out in strict accordance with safety standards and the approved system design — from roof mounting and cable routing through to inverter placement and electrical connection. |
6 | Testing & Commissioning System testing, performance verification, and final handover for operational readiness. This includes inverter calibration, PV testing and commissioning, and a full suite of electrical checks — solar irradiance, VOC, DC, AC, and leakage testing — to ensure the system is safe, compliant, and performing as designed before handover. |
WHY THIS TALK RESONATED
The solar industry in Malaysia does an excellent job of marketing the benefits of going solar. What it often skips over is the practical experience of actually getting a system built and connected. Victor's session filled that gap directly, giving attendees a realistic, experience-based picture of what to expect — and what to watch out for — from a team that has done this successfully many times over.

Why Solarlink Energy Shows Up at Events Like This
It would be easy to ask why a Solar EPCC company spends time at industry seminars when there are installations to run and clients to serve. The answer is straightforward: the industry moves forward when its practitioners are in the room together, sharing real-world knowledge, challenging assumptions, and building the relationships that make complex projects possible.
Malaysia stands at the centre of ASEAN's most dynamic clean energy decade, with regional demand for renewable power projected to exceed 350GW by 2035 and Malaysia targeting a 70% renewable energy share by 2050. The opportunities ahead are significant. But they don't realise themselves. They require people who are technically capable, commercially credible, and well-connected in the industry to make them happen on the ground.
That's why Solarlink Energy was at R.A.C.E to Zero Johor — not as a bystander, but as a contributor. On the booth, we had genuine conversations with business owners exploring their first commercial solar system, and with developers thinking about large-scale industrial deployments. On the stage, we gave a room full of industry stakeholders a clearer picture of what the post-approval journey actually looks like in practice.
THE BIGGER PICTURE Events like R.A.C.E to Zero are not just networking opportunities — they are part of how Malaysia's solar industry builds the collective knowledge, trust, and collaboration needed to hit its clean energy targets. Solarlink Energy is committed to being part of that process, not just as a contractor, but as a voice in the industry's broader conversation. |
What This Means If You're Considering Solar
If you are a homeowner, business owner, or developer in Johor or anywhere in Malaysia who is thinking about going solar — events like R.A.C.E to Zero are a reminder that the ecosystem around solar is more mature, more supported, and more accessible than ever before.
There has never been a better — or more urgent — time to act, for three key reasons:
Solar panel prices are rising. The removal of China's export tax rebates and tightening global supply are pushing module costs upward. Today's prices are still lower than where they're heading.
The SuRIA Home cash rebate is live — and limited. Homeowners can claim up to RM3,000 in direct cash rebates under the new government programme, but the 250MW national quota won't last. First come, first served.
Electricity tariffs are not getting cheaper. RP4 changes and the shifting AFA mechanism mean every month without solar is a month of paying more to TNB than you absolutely need to.
The conversation happening at events like R.A.C.E to Zero is the same conversation we have with our clients every day. And the conclusion is always the same: the best time to install solar was yesterday — the next best time is now.
